10th Wedding Anniversary

How can you tell if you have been married for ten years? Well, read on...

I had been waiting breathlessly to give my insight on being married for 10 years after my friend posted an article on her blog about her 5th wedding anniversary and what she had learned about men and marriage in 5 years.

Well, then life got in the way. May and June are very busy for me. I work at a place where 90% of the clients are state workers and state workers have to blow all of their budget money by June 30th. So I was more than busy for all of May and June. My husband had started a new job and he was not only swamped with his new database programming job (which he brought home every night for me to help him with). He was also working in the Army Reserves so he would be working weekends as well. Then my daughter had schoolwork (i.e. homework at night that I needed to help with) as well as swim lessons to go to every evening. Then we had two guests staying with us in June, a friend of my husband's from the Army and then my father-in-law from Washington, DC. And then there is the usual stuff, making dinner at night, doing dishes, laundry, cleaning up the house...trying to survive--you know the usual stuff.

It wasn't until Brian's Dad asked us about our 10th wedding anniversary that we realized that June 8th, 2007 (our 10th wedding anniversary) had passed without a single champagne bottle being uncorked or a single balloon being popped. We were just too dang busy to have even realized that our anniversary had come and went. We had both forgotten!

It's not as if we had an excuse. I had decided that I was exceedingly clever to have our wedding anniversary engraved on the inside of our wedding rings. So therefore, I deduced there would be no excuse about forgetting when our anniversary was. Little did I know that I would be too darn busy to check the date inside of my wedding ring. Oops!

Well, I plan on giving people insight about marriage after ten years once I have the time, but I don't know when that will be! Wish me luck and time alone with my husband!
